One of Collie's most popular sporting organisations will soar to new heights over the next few years.
The Collie RC Club has announced the launch of its new flying radio control model aero club.
Back in May, the club held its first registration day at its new venue - Buckingham RC Park.
Located 20 kilometres east of Collie, Buckingham RC Park is situated away from homes and businesses.
The 27-acre patch of land has an aero strip suitable for remote control planes and drones.
After signing the lease and applying for aeromodellers insurance, the club officially became legal last month.
Collie RC Club secretary Jason Stanley said they were keen to see Collie and South-West aeromodellers sign up.
"The original aeromodellers club folded, so the land then became available. The shire then approached us to see if we wanted to take over the land," he said.
"We have since started up the aeromodellers club - we are now legal and allowed to fly.
"It's all very exciting, and it's great for the community. Hopefully, this will bring even more people together."
The club is planning to develop a new nitro off-road track in Buckingham, due for completion late next year.
"We want to create an RC motorplex/playground for cars, planes, boats etc.," Collie RC Club president Darren von Bibra said.
"We've got a strong membership base, and the club has grown significantly.
"A good percentage of our weekend event competitors visit from Perth, Albany, Margaret River etc.
"The club is constantly growing and evolving over time."
Mr Stanley and Mr von Bibra encouraged community members of all ages to give it a go.
"It gives the kids something to do, and it gives them the opportunity to build some cool things," Mr Stanley said.
"It also helps with hand-eye coordination and depth perception."
The club recently wrapped up its 2018/2019 season with a trophy presentation on Saturday, July 6.
