The Shire of Collie has been recognised in the prestigious Western Australian Regional Achievement and Community Awards thanks to its efforts to re-energise the local economy.
The Shire's Energise Collie program has reached the semi finals of the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries' Making A Difference Award.
The program delivers a series of business connections events aimed at building connections, establishing relationships with and supporting the business community of Collie in a rapidly changing economy.
At a recent event, Shire of Collie president Sarah Stanley said it was a great opportunity for the Collie community to learn from inspirational leaders and peers.
"We've got some great ideas in our community, but it's always helpful to bounce ideas off each other, as well as people who've been there and done that," she said.
The next round of judging will take place next week and finalists will attend an awards gala presentation dinner in October at the Hyatt Regency Perth.
