Men's hockey was played on Saturday afternoon, August 10, with Co-op taking on Mustangs at 3pm.
Co-op were slightly under-strength without the Sanford brothers, Benson and Cassady.
Mustangs had the run of the play in the first half, with Dave O'brien finishing off some great attacking play to put Mustangs ahead.
The Co-op defence of Brendan and Darren Crowe kept opportunities for Mustangs to a minimum and Co-op were able to score themselves through a Jak Mounsey steal and reverse stick finish to be in touch at half-time, with the scores at 2-1.
The second half was a stalemate, with neither team able to break the game open.
Each team scored another goal each and Mustangs ran out 3-2 winners to lock in their place in second on the ladder.
With only a few games to go in the season it was a big second game with current ladder leaders Centaurs Green playing last year's premiers, Patriots.
Centaurs started the game full of run and jumped Patriots to be 3-0 up in the first 20 minutes.
The speed of Gareth Shepherdson and Kyle Davies in attack was too much for the Patriots' defence.
Chris Michalak pushed back in defence and steadied the ship, while Ben Forrest and Kaleb Michalak went about trying to wrestle back some control in midfield.
The score stayed 3-0 at half-time with Patriots coming back into the game before half-time.
The game was much more even in the second half with Jake Loxton for Centaurs and Chris Shannon for Patriots keeping things tight in defence.
Centaurs scored their fourth with 15 minutes to go which sealed the result, securing top spot on the ladder for at least another week.
