It was all streamers and cake last week at ValleyView residence as the aged care facility celebrated a decade.
The 64-bed facility provides high care services and care for people living with dementia aged 55 and over.
Engagement co-ordinator Dot Murray said it was important for the aged care facility to celebrate and recognise the milestone.
"When you look at what's happening in the media regarding aged care, we are very happy to hold our heads high and say we have residents who have been here for over eight years and are part of our family here," she said.
"Being local for over a decade, it allows our residents to stay in the town they love and grown up in, as well as allowing family members to come and visit.
"And if for some reason they aren't getting visitors, our staff are mostly Collie locals so for our residents we are an extended family for them as well."
Ms Murray said it was the community which kept the residence strong with grants to maintain the building and volunteers always willing to help.
