INTERMEDIATES
In the intermediates, Co-op and Centaurs played off to see who would be the 2019 premiers.
With great support for both teams it was always going to be a spectacle.
Centaurs sprung out to a 1-0 lead through Darcy Stinton. After the early goal, Co-op's defence of Luke Watts and Cohen Hislop tightened up and kept centaurs on the back foot. Co-op were working into the game with a lot of attack through Belle Ramshaw and Carson Dewar but it was Centaurs that scored again to make it 2-0 just before half-time.
Co-op rallied at half-time and despite some staunch defence from Tara Read-Wallis and Jack Bateman, Co-op scored the next two through Belle Ramshaw and Reece Pilatti. With the game getting tight it was Centaurs that managed to work a short corner with only three minutes to go. Co-op defended brilliantly and Reece Pilatti rand the length of the field to draw the game at 3-all.
With extra time looking likely it was Jake Pitchers who managed to get another short corner. With the game in the balance, it was Darcy Stinton who stepped up and scored the winning goal to give Centaurs the premiership.
With Centaurs taking out the premiership, the individual awards were also given out on the night. See page 23. Winners were Jaide Read-Wallace of Centaurs for highest goal scorer for the year. Carson Dewar of Co-op was runner-up fairest and best, while Jake Pitchers from Centaurs was adjudged fairest and best for the year. Reece Pilatti from Co-op was the best on ground in the grand final.
MEN'S
Co-op took on Centaurs Green for the right to take on Patriots in the grand final. The game began as a tight affair as both sides were working each other out.
Jamie Graham was a rock for Co-op at halfback but it was Centaurs who scored first through some good work from Nathan Macintyre. Centaurs went chasing a second late in the first half but Co-op held them at bay and the score at the half was 1-0.
Co-op started the second half well with young Reece Pilatti using his speed up front and brother Jakob holding the fort in goals. Centaurs wrestled momentum back as Greg Tomasini began to control the midfield and with Kyle Davies unleashed in attack, Centaurs put two quick goals on the board. Co-op weren't going to lie down and veteran Toby Ramshaw scored to give Co-op a sniff. Centaurs rose to the challenge and picked up the pace of the game. Despite Co-ops best efforts, Centaurs scored three late goals to run out winners and book their place in the grand final.
