It was a cold night at The Make Smoking History Collie Speedway on Saturday night as the Limited Sprintcars turned on some fast and sensational racing.
The night was supported by two small fields of Junior Sedans as well as some classy Street Stock and Production Sedan competitors.
Limited Sprintcars contested two heat races each with some mixed results.
Only a few minor incidents happened during the night which allowed all 18 Sprintcars to contest the A Main.
The thunder grew louder as the cars did not waste any time getting underway for the 25 lap event.
A couple of minor incidents resulted in two cars heading to the infield and eventually the drivers settled in for the long road with 20 laps to go.
Racing was fast and furious with Moora driver Tim King leading the way. Not too far behind King was Todd Davis, Michael Keen gradually made his way forward followed by Dom Refici.
The leading half dozen cars starting lapping some of the slower competitors as the laps ticked by.
Davis gave his all to reign in King only to be forced to retire with a flat right rear tyre while only a few laps remained. That paved the way for Keen to chase down King followed by Refici.
Lapped cars came into play however King prevailed to take the win with 14 of the original starters still on the track.
On the podium the drivers praised each other for the respect they gave allowing for a fast and competitive A Main and little machinery damage.
Street Stock showed they too can put in some exciting laps with club vice president Josh Davies setting the benchmark through the heats and then leading the final until the last lap.
Davies was heading for home until entering the back straight for the final time was hampered by a slower car which allowed the young gun Brodie Dunn to scoot around the outside to capture the race lead and the ultimate win.
Damon Thomson and Brian Jackson both gained some good results.
Production Sedans with a group of ten cars also had some exciting racing with Margaret River driver Kyle Sayer cleaning up on the night winning all four races.
Collie driver Rickie Nuccini drove well to finish with a second, two thirds and a second in the final.
A rising star on the night was Nathan Carter who drove Ken Melvin's number 142 from the rear of the field in his first ever senior race. Carter moved forward in each race finishing with two fourth and two fifth place finishes.
Seth Hinsey finished on top of the Top Star juniors after having to work hard against Rory Elsom-Beaumont all night. Hinsey won three of the races including the final.
New Star Juniors had Kai Leeson complete a clean sheet winning all races with Teliah Bosley the next best.
The next race meeting at Collie will see the return of the Formula 500s along with the Thomson's Auto Parts Collie Street Stock Championship.
