Betty Brown Historical Centre: The Betty Brown Historical Centre is coming along in leaps and bounds. It started slowly with lots of sorting, cleaning, labelling and developing of collection policies and procedures. The project manager, Kerryn Chia has done a lot of training and has learned how to handle, store and curate items in a museum setting and the old Roads Board building and meeting room in the CRC has been renovated and made ready for the displays. The Shire recently received a grant from Lotterywest to help with the construction of the cabinetry and the graphic design of the panels and this will mean the money that was generously donated by Betty Brown will extend further. This grant has also meant the Centre is able to advance rapidly and it is on track to be opened in March next year. The graphic design has resulted in the need for a collection of old photos and if your family has any old photos of the town site, community events or general household photos from the early to mid-1900s that might be suitable to include as part of the graphics then please get in touch with Kerryn - 0429 631044 or chia@wn.com.au.
