One of Collie's biggest hockey super stars Kobie McGurk has been added to the Collie Wall of Champions.
The two time Olympian was inducted onto the Roche Park Recreation Centre wall last month at the Shire of Collie sports awards night.
Humbled and thankful for the recognition Ms McGurk said never in her wildest dreams did she imagine where her life had taken her.
"When I left Collie at the end of 2002 not in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be back in Collie 17 years later with this story, I knew I'd be back but not with what's just happened behind me," she said.
"I'm very humbled and extremely honoured to be recognised tonight and be inducted into Collie's Wall of Champions in front of my family and friends and to be here among many aspiring young superstars.
"To me I feel very privileged to be in the wall along side some of Collie greats and this small coal mining town does continue to develop future sporting stars of which I have the pleasure of working with when they come through those hockey programs now."
McGurk was born and bred in Collie, spending 17 years avidly playing hockey from the age of eight before playing for Rovers and then Australia Hockeyroos.
At just 22 McGurk had competed in four Champions Trophy campaigns from 2005 to 2008 and won and Commonwealth Games gold medal before being selected on the 2008 Beijing Olympic Team before being selected again for the 2012 London Olympic Team.
McGurk said it was her roots in Collie which kept her on the straight and narrow and help her achieve her goals.
"I never once forgot where it all begun for me," she said.
"Collie has always been special to me for so many reason but obviously because of the sporting background and heritage.
"I attribute (my reputation) to two things, firstly my family and upbringing.... and number two: Collie."
Before she retired in 2013, McGurk said no matter where she went she always came across Collie people.
"I have some fantastic support all throughout my career and I had an entourage from Collie," she said.
"To be on the world stage in front of a home crowd, especially Collie was quite memorable for me."
