Cheerio Club today: The annual Cheerio Club party in the Miners' Institute promises a warm welcome today. It features lunch, live entertainment, afternoon tea, Santa distributing lucky spots and it's free. Lunches are delivered to those who are house-bound or sick. Doors open at 12pm.
Fun day at pool: Make your way to the Collie Swimming Pool on December 14, from 10am-2pm for a fun-d raising day for Liam Shepherd. Sure to make a splash is a Bombie competition and a corporate inflatables relay is also planned; teams of six, bring your own inflatables. Collie Shire has made available some inflatables for the fun-d raising. There will be novelties and foods and drinks on sale. This is a fund raiser for Liam, who is recovering from spinal injuries.
DIY decorations: Collie library is offering the chance to paint your own wooden Christmas decoration. It's free and no need to book. Pop in any day up to Christmas Eve during library opening hours. On December 20, from 10am-12pm, you can bring your pet to the library and take your own photos with Santa and your kids. Well behaved pets only please.
Shop local: Don't forget to shop local, and enter the Collie Chamber of Commerce Christmas competition.
New Year's Eve: The Italian Club has New Year's Eve sorted with a family night at the club. Tickets are $5 each, with kids admitted free. Doors open 7pm. BYO basket supper, licensed bar and live entertainment. Table bookings and ticket sales from Anna Papalia, 0447 092 457 or between 6-8pm at the Italian Club, December 17.
Charity bike ride: The 23rd annual Collie Motorcyclists' Charity Ride will be held on December 14 at 10am. All licensed bikes are welcome, assemble at the Collie Visitors' Centre. Breakfast and coffee will be available from 9am, and the ride starts at 10am, to travel around Collie streets collecting toys, tinned food and donations. The ride finishes at the carpark opposite the Club Hotel in Forrest Street, and a sausage sizzle lunch will be available. All proceeds go to the Collie Combined Churches Christmas Appeal.
Art Group open day: The Collie Art Group's annual open day is on December 14, from 10am-2pm, at the Old Police Station. There will be craft work, plants and cakes for sale, and you can perhaps pick up a unique Christmas gift.
Goods Shed markets: The Goods Shed markets are open again on Sunday, in the lead up to Christmas. Go along and browse the many and varied stalls, maybe pick up a few Christmas gifts, meet friends and have a cuppa. C
hristmas Pageant: It's time to put your thinking caps on to plan a float for this year's Pageant parade. There is a $500 prize for the winning float and cash prizes for two runners-up. Organisers promise an action-packed Pageant, with entertainment from The Good Things, Top of the Stairs, Kitekinetics, fairies, music, lots of stalls and of course, Santa. Santa will be in the Grotto for photographs from 4pm, leaving it temporarily for the Parade at 6pm, and returning for more photos. There will be a choice of food and drinks so no-one need go hungry.
