Emergency services have so far failed to find a man who went missing in a waterhole near Alice Springs yesterday.
NT Police divers are now travelling to central Australia to look for a man who is feared to have drowned in the local water hole yesterday.
Police said about 5.30pm yesterday, a 31-year-old man had gone swimming with friends at a waterhole about an hour west of Alice Springs, while temperatures were about 35 degrees, when he failed to re-surface.
Police and emergency services attended but could not locate the man.
A crime scene has been established in the area and Ellery Creek Big Hole remains closed to the public while police divers and rangers work to locate the man.
According to NT tourist information, Ellery Creek Big Hole is one of the most popular camping, walking, swimming and picnic spots in the Tjoritja/ West MacDonnell National Park.
