The opening meeting of the Collie Harness Racing Club's 2020 season will be run on Sunday afternoon with the first race around 1.10pm.

Good nominations have been received for the programme where the two major events will be standing start events over 2700 metres for the $7000 Spry's Meat Market King Coal Cup and the John Martin Memorial Handicap, also for $7000.

A crackerjack field is nominated for the King Coal Cup headed by Busselton Trotting Club's Horse of the Year Henwood Bay for Errol Ashcroft. Others from the recent Busselton round with good form include Awaitinginstructions, Perlee Gates, Hoiho, Alltheway to Royalty and Happy As.

The John Martin Memorial has the well credentialed Miracle Max and I Am Immortal for the Matthew Scott stable while Joe Rigoli has Mondooley Mach and Joe Macri, Rather Sentimental, both of whom won good races over the Busselton season. Oneforthediggers, Magical Mitch and Miss Camouflage will face up against the Tex Flynn trained Four Starzzz Looks in a mobile 2050 metre event while an even field of maidens are also on the programme. Frank Bonnett's Well Advanced has shown patches of form and can be prominent against Dats Abit Harsh, local The Boxer and Camilla in their race.

Three other supporting events will be run and all the usual attractions will be offered, such as the children's bike give-away, the Chocolate Wheel, a Pick 4 Competition and the $3000 select the field for the King Coal Cup. EFTPOS facilities will be available on course.
