Following two months of deliberation and negotiation between the Tom Quilty committee , Western Australian Endurance Riders Association and the Australian Endurance Riders Association, it has been decided that the Tom Quilty ride will be held in Collie in 2021.
The ride was set to take off from the Collie Racecourse this September and plans were well underway long before COVID-19 took hold.
Many decisions were taken into consideration, including the fact that even if the ride season resumed in July there would be inadequate time to prepare a horse for a 160 kilometre ride following cancellation of all endurance events since mid March.
As NSW were due to hold the event next year, already with significant preparations in place, they will now run their event in 2022.
A revised date for next year's event is yet to be decided, other amendments need to be put in place along with securing the Collie Racecourse as a venue.
