Year of the ox, apparently. Well, from February 12 after Chinese New Year's day anyway.
A little closer to home it just might turn out to be the Year of Internal Travel. For more than the most obvious of reasons.
Clearly the likelihood of hundreds of us jumping on massive metal tubes at once - ie: flying - and travelling thousands of kilometres will be severely limited for some time to come yet.
But alas, Australia is a big place with many options - if you are fortunate enough to be able to take them up.
From a taking a break perspective, there's the Tourism Australia "holiday here this year" refrain. There are epic adventures, off-grid getaways, weekend getaways, multi-day family road trips ... take your pick!
There are bushfire-slammed regions all across the country wanting to show off their resilience and powers of recovery - from Corryong in the Upper Murray to South Australia's Kangaroo Island.
And then, of course, you could try a train. Why drive when someone else can? These four train journeys should take in some of the best bits of your country, Craig Tansley says.
But then with the economic impact of the pandemic, there's also the unexpected need for people to up stumps.
Only today the Daily Liberal reported on 500 jobs being available in the NSW cities of Dubbo and Orange.
Regional Development Australia (RDA) Orana staff have counted 1291 job vacancies since November including "additional vacancies across the hospitality and retail sectors in the lead-up to the Christmas holiday season".
The number of available jobs is currently sitting around 500, they say. There are reasonable opportunities in the mining, construction and health.
