MORE charges have been laid against a man accused of deliberately lighting a fire in Collie earlier this month.
Paul John Willis, 36, appeared in Bunbury Magistrate's Court to face eight charges of wilfully lighting a fire to injure or damage and two charges of criminal damage by fire.
He was arrested in the early hours of March 12 after he allegedly lit a fire in Elouera Street about 11.40pm the night before.
Police allege Willis ran from the scene when challenged by officers and was chased to a Denton Place residence where he tried to barricade himself while officers forced their way in.
It is also alleged a violent struggle took place before the accused was subdued with a taser and taken into custody. The arrest followed a surveillance operation in response to a string of small fires in the area.
The matter will be heard at Stirling Gardens Magistrate's Court on April 9.
