LAST week I wrote a little about marijuana and how it compared with alcohol.
Well, what is alcohol?
It just happens to be a drug. It is classed as a depressant, meaning it slows down vital functions resulting in slurred speech, unsteady movement, disturbed perception and an inability to react quickly.
As for how it affects the mind, it is best understood as a drug which reduces a person's ability to think rationally.
It distorts his or her judgment.
By over-indulging one experiences alcohol's depressant effect and starts to feel stupid or lose coordination and control. It can bring unconsciousness, a coma or even death. Long-term over indulgence can cause cancer of the mouth and throat, ulcers, liver disease and even sexual problems to name a few.
So over indulge at your peril.
