Dave Brunswick bounced back to his best form following a layoff after shoulder surgery to win the Stroke event sponsored by Denis Cocker and Geoff Lee at the Collie Golf Club last Saturday.
The evergreen veteran had a score of 70 nett to edge out Jay Robinson by a shot on 71.
Ian Stewart played an excellent back nine to prevail in a count back for third position over the other players in the 45 man field returning a 72.
Jaydon Ellery, Alan Kent, Kevin Ireland and Danny Cheng were the others who played to handicap.
Chris Shea was next on 73 followed by Peter Coombs, Dean Rakich and Danny Smythe on 74.
The competition marked the beginning of the 72 hole club championships.
Greg Bell and Danny Cheng made a good start with 79 off the stick with Bell getting the nod on count back for the gross trophy.
Nearest the pins went to Jaydon Ellery, Leon Moran and Corey Old.
Dean Rakich won the long drive and Danny Cheng and David Laird took out the long putts.
Sunday's second round saw Peter Coombs post the best nett score of the first two rounds with a 67.
Jan Van Vollenstee had a nice round to take the runner up position on 70.
Danny Cheng went one shot better to have 78 off the stick and claim the Wilson Cup for the 36 hole lead in the club championship on a total of 157.
Cheng leads by 4 shots from Garry Beard, whose 75 on Sunday was the lowest of the weekend.
Last year's champion, Chris Stewart is a further two shots adrift.
The final 36 holes will be played on the last weekend of August.
Darren O'Brien broke through for a victory in Scroungers with 21 points.
Ian Annandale snared the runner up position after a nice round of 37 off the stick to also take gross honours.
David Broadbent, Alan Kent and Neil Motion had 19 points followed by Alan Banks, Geoff Lee and George Davis on 18 points each.
Ed Riley, Garry Beard and Alan Kent won the novelties.
Brian Banks was a popular winner of the Leisure day competition.
'Banga' tallied 39 points to win from Rod Miller with 37 points.
Alan Kent played to handicap with 36 points to claim the best vet prize.
Brad Swan also had 36 to finish in the top four of the field of 25 players.
Denis Cocker and Alf Sanford were next best on 35 points.
This Saturday is an 18 hole 4 BBB Stableford event sponsored by the Leigh and Matt Bernardi.
The AGM is on Sunday morning at 9am.
