WORKING part time as a special needs teacher and as a novelist, A.J Betts took time from her busy schedule to visit Collie on Thursday.
Her visit came as part of the Griffin Festival to present a creative writing workshop to a group of enthusiastic Collie Senior High school students.
Betts' two hour workshop covered many areas of the writing process including idea generation, the creation of conflict and story development.
She discussed with the students her own writing process and motivations for writing which she said were not monetary, but her passion.
Betts said there was some really good discussion and believed she had a great bunch of students to work with.
"They were funny, imaginative and completely involved." she said.
"I loved listening to their ideas."
She used her most recent novel Zac and Mia as a tool to help guide and explain what she was teaching to the students.
