THREE weeks ago, Millie the ragdoll cat escaped from her owner’s car whilst they were having lunch at Black Diamond.
Millie has not been seen since and her owners are worried for her safety.
Janece Rogers, from Corrigin was taking her husband to a doctor’s appointment in Bunbury when the couple decided to stop at Black Diamond.
“We take Millie and our dog Jeffery with us everywhere; they travel in the car with us wherever we go.”
Millie became frightened by nearby revving engines and ran in to the nearby bushland.
But her owner, Janece still holds out hope that Millie will return safe, as Millie has previously survived six months lost in Queensland bushland.
Four year old Millie went missing from Mrs Rogers’s caravan in Longreach, Queensland whilst she and her husband were travelling around Australia.
Mrs Rogers and her husband returned to WA without Millie, holding out hope but slowly resigned to the fact that she was gone.
Until six months later when Mrs Rogers received a phone call from a lady in Queensland saying they had found Millie and a microchip scan confirmed the cat was in fact Millie.
“I was so happy to have her back, we arranged a flight for her to bring her back home and she was happy to see us. She stuck pretty close to us from then on.”
Mrs Rogers said Millie must have been living in some pretty tough conditions.
“She must have been battling cane toads and snakes out there, and as for food we have seen her catch rabbits before.”
“A lady had seen Millie around her property quite often and tried to coax her in with food but Millie was cautious. Eventually she came to eat some food the lady had put out and she caught her.”
Mrs Rogers can only hope the same will happen this time and Millie will again be reunited with her family.
In a strange coincidence, a few days after Millie went missing at Black Diamond there was a Ragdoll cat similar to Millie found deceased on the side of Coalfields Highway in Allanson.
Mrs Rogers thought the coincidence would be too great not to be Millie, but after the ranger scanned the cat he found there was no microchip therefore it was confirmed not to be Millie.
Mrs Rogers said the locals are still on the lookout for Millie, and she has returned to Black Diamond on numerous occasions to hunt for her beloved cat.
“The community has been so helpful down there; they have continued to search for Millie, and post on social media sites about her.”
Mrs Rogers and her family are not the only ones that are desperately missing Millie. Her dog Jeffrey, an Australian terrier, and Millie’s best friend has been visibly upset since Millie’s disappearance.
“Jeffrey (the dog) misses his best friend and we just want Millie to come back, we love her so much.”
“She could still be out there somewhere.”
Millie is a four year old Tortoiseshell Ragdoll cat with distinctive dark markings on her paws.
