Presidents report.
This weeks game review is a little different in the fact that this game was not part of the season format.
This game review is for one of those once in a lifetime games, a tick off your bucket list type of event that Collie Mongrels were privileged to be apart of.
I won't delve to deeply into how the game went because to be honest it all went like a bit of a blur. I can tell you we didn't win, we got thrashed to put it nicely, but every player left the field with a smile on their face and not a care in the world.
Goldfields rugby club came with a representative team made up from four clubs so I think Collie were up against it before the game even started.
Collie again held their own in the forwards but lack of possession and some slick moves by Goldfields backs were the telling factors.
Goldfields ran riot scoring tries at will but Collie still kept fighting till the end and did themselves proud. I will use one of those old clichés and say "this was a loss we had to have." In this case it is true, it is better to have lost this game the way we did then have it happen in a season game.
It gives the team something to work on to keep getting better.
This Saturday April 30, the competition goes to Dunsborough for the 3rd 10's tournament.
Collie will be looking build on from the last weeks performance and get some wins on the board.
Things are looking positive for the club with a couple of key signings, Jesse Kupe is a fast back with good footwork and is a great pickup, barnstorming forward Steve Rogers will add to an already strong pack with the wealth of experience he can bring to the club.
Momentum is building so watch this space for more Mongrels triumph.
