Police have charged two teenagers for allegedly running a "business" that involved charging people to attend out-of-control house parties across Perth – often without the permission of the home owners.
It will be alleged a 17-year-old Mirrabooka boy and 18-year-old Ballajura woman would advertise parties on social media, with an estimated 500 to 1000 people registering to attend their events.
The pair have been charged with organising gatherings that became out of control, trespassing and fraudulent appropriation of power.
The boy has also been charged with aggravated burglary.
According to police, the duo organised an out-of-control party in Yokine on June 17 and another on June 24 in Mirrabooka.
The boy is also charged with organising a third party at a Mirrabooka residence in July that allegedly led to three police officers being assaulted, $2000 in property damage and 10 charges being laid.
A third person, a 19-year-old man, has been charged for allegedly being hired as a DJ at two of the parties.
The charges come after a vacant house in Ballajura was trashed on June 18 after teenagers advertised an impromptu party on Facebook.
Alice Pooley from Channel 9 News Perth said at the time it appeared to be a new illegal party scam, where teenagers were targeting vacant rental properties and telling neighbours they were the new tenants.
They then break into the property and invite hundreds of people online to participate in a destructive party.
More than 200 teenagers and adults paid $10 each to go to the Ballajura home to drink and damage the property before police were called.
It is not implied the teenagers charged were involved in the Ballajura incident.
