The man fatally stabbed in Perth's CBD on Tuesday evening has been described by distraught friends and family as a "gentle and loving soul".
The 20-year-old, who WAtoday has chosen not to name or identify at his family's request, died after allegedly being stabbed outside Wesley Church on William Street around 6.20pm.
The Mandurah man, originally from New Zealand, was rushed to hospital after friends and bystanders tried desperately to save his life.
Travis Robinson, 37, appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning charged with the man's murder and resisting arrest.
Tributes have begun to flow for the 20-year-old, with friends laying wreaths outside Wesley Church and others posting messages online.
"You will forever be my baby, I love you so much and I can't believe this has happened. You're in a better place now, I'll see you again soon," wrote his girlfriend on Facebook.
"I can't believe your gone, you brought so many fun memories & always there for your friends and family, I'm gonna miss you my g [sic]. Rest easy," wrote another friend.
"My heart breaks knowing I'm not gonna [sic] see you around anymore, you looked after me in my darkest times when I was young and dumb. Fed me and gave me a place to stay, had heart of gold, you always looked out for me and everyone," said another.
Mr Robinson made a brief appearance in court on Wednesday and was remanded in custody to appear in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on January 25.
The Nollamara man is also accused of assaulting another man, Peter Robert Henry, and is facing a charge of assault with intent to prevent arrest of a person over that.
