Local first approach for One Nation candidate

Mr Miller said many people, including himself, had lost faith in the two major political parties. 

“I’m standing for One Nation because I’m sick of the bullsh**t,” he said. “I think both the major parties have lost touch with the people and I think the people have had enough.

“I am not a Nazi, I am not a racist, I am just normal, I am just having a crack, I am just like everybody else who has had enough of the bullsh**t.”

Mr Miller said there needed to be another Muja-sized power station built in Collie. “I believe we need to increase Collie’s base load power station capacity because that is the most reliable source for electricity,” he said. 

“One of the biggest issues in this country at the moment is the price of electricity, so I am pro-coal. It is the most reliable and the cheapest.”

Increasing the amount of apprenticeships on offer was also a key area for Mr Miller, who said One Nation’s national apprenticeship policy encouraged employers to employ their own apprentices, while receiving assistance.

Mr Miller was also concerned that 457 visa holders had been hired to work on local projects without local labour being sought first. 

“If there is any project in the area, clearly the preference should be given to local labour first, then we source it from where we can,” he said. 

Mr Miller lives in Burekup and is a qualified electrician who completed his apprenticeship at Muja Power Station.

“I am not a politician and I have never been a politician, I am a construction worker. I am not university educated, I have never stuck a needle in my arm and I have got no tattoos and I have never been bankrupt,” he said. 

Mr Miller said One Nation stands for the formation of a rural fire service, are against the sale of Western Power, are advocates for the legalisation of medicinal Marijuana, and support a total ban on fracking throughout Western Australia.
