Police have arrested a 37-year-old man after a lengthy chase through Perth's northern suburbs that saw the suspect hide inside a school's storage room before being sniffed out and bitten by a police dog.
Mirrabooka Detectives allege that just before midday on Friday police tried to stop a silver Volkswagen Golf on Wanneroo Road, and gave chase when it failed to stop.
The car evaded police through various streets in Yokine, where it struck a kerb causing the car's tyre to become damaged, then continuing through Nollamara and Dianella, with the occupants then abandoning the vehicle on Beaufort Street in Bedford.
Police say the driver of the vehicle then ran into a nearby school, and was apprehended by officers and the police dog 'Whiskey,' who found him hiding in a storage room.
He was allegedly found with an amount of methylamphetamine, cocaine, and taken to hospital for medical treatment for a dog bite he received during the arrest.
The Thornlie man has been charged with: Reckless Driving (Dangerous to the Public or any Person) (to escape pursuit), Driver of vehicle fail to comply with direction to stop (aggravated), Possess a prohibited drug (methylamphetamine), Possess a prohibited drug (cocaine), and Unlawful possession (cash).
He will appear in Perth Magistrates Court on 10 April 2017.
His female passenger was released without charge.
