The Collie Garden Centre – Plants Plus’s owners and staff are reeling after two break-ins within the space of a month.
The Harvey Street store was most recently broken in to on the night of Tuesday, March 14.
According to Collie Garden Centre – Plants Plus owner Sue Hennighan, the culprits cut a hole into the fence surrounding the facility on the Medic Street side.
They then stole Crepe myrtles, Roses and Viburnums and removed them from the pots before leaving the area.
After discovering the scene the following day, Collie Garden Centre – Plants Plus staff member Storm Todhunter called Collie Police.
Ms Hennighan said the thieves could have cased the facility prior to the break-in as it appeared they knew exactly what they were after.
“It’s not something that any business can take at the moment because it’s pretty rough times,” she said.
Ms Hennighan said the store received immense support from the community after she had posted about the incident on their Facebook page.
The store owner was given a basket of goods from a local resident, filled with home-grown products.
The centre also suffered a break-in in late February, with thieves breaking a street light on the Harvey street side before cutting into the fence and taking potting mix.
Collie SignFX employee Bryce Morton searched through the store’s security feed for any signs of suspicious activity occurring outside Collie Garden Centre – Plants Plus.
He said Collie SignFX was looking into getting more security cameras.
