A man has died in a skydiving incident east of Perth after his parachute became entangled and failed to open.
The jumper, believed to be in his 30s, was an experienced skydiver taking part in the Australian National Skydiving Championships which are being held in York until Sunday.
WAtoday understands the RAC Helicopter called out to the scene was cancelled as the man's injuries were "extensive".
Skydive Australia released a statement shortly after the incident saying the man's canopy became entangled during a formation jump causing him to collide with another jumper.
"The deceased man was an experienced skydiver in his 30s," it said.
"No other person was injured in the incident.
"WA Police are investigating the circumstances of the accident."
Paramedics and police were called to the scene around 5pm on Thursday.
Thursday's events at the championships included wingsuit, freestyle, artistic and group dives.
The championships - being held at Skydive York - have been put on hold.
