THE weather finally has won a day. After a couple of threatening Saturdays the weather closed in and poured down on the golf course making play impossible.
The Collie Mowers n More sponsored event will now be played later in the year.
On Tuesday 28 players played in the club sponsored leisure day. Neil Motion bounced back into the winners circle with 38 points.
Neil had a point to spare from the runner-up Jim Hine with 37 followed by Des Hebb 36, low marker Garry Beard 35 and Jim Moyses 34. The best vet on the day went to Eric Annandale with 37 points.
Thursday Scroungers was an interesting event. A three-way tie for first place, with Brian Banks edging out Kevin Ireland and Greg White all of whom had 19.
Phil Eldridge, Des Hebb and George Dorozenko had 18 apiece and Terry Massara had 17.
Dean Rakich produced the highlight of the day with a great second shot to the ninth hole. No need for the putter as he holed out for an eagle 2.
Phil Warburton had a round he would rather forget scoring a small total of three but promising everyone he will be back at his best next week. Greg White won the gross with 40 off-the-stick.
Next week’s events:
Eighteen-hole stableford for Spry’s trophy; Tuesday leisure day; and Thursday scroungers.
