Some Collie people may know that I grew up in Collie, and attended Collie’s primary schools and high schools.
I also started my working career in Collie. I have held positions within companies as CEO, Operations Director and General Manager, and throughout my career, I returned to Collie to work on the Bluewaters Power Station and Worsley Multi-Fuel Cogeneration plant.
I believe it is time the Council needs to be more proactive towards a better Collie and surrounding areas. Collie needs to try new things and foster employment opportunities, and industries.
I have the experience and expertise to help Collie progress it’s employment opportunities by attracting new industries to our town.
Such industries could include agribusiness, recycling initiatives, renewable energy, desalination of waterways and the integration of local produce with businesses.
In my previous roles I was responsible for setting up new businesses, expansion of existing businesses and improving the performance of businesses.
We need to address the community concerns such as youth and older aged unemployment, drugs, and family social/entertainment activities.
We need to give an undertaking to the ratepayers to raise their concerns and put them on the Council’s agenda. I see the need to promote Collie’s tourism potential, we must ensure we have infrastructure and promotional activities to assist the local tourism arm in Collie.
I pride myself as being open, transparent, and a hard worker. I will ensure the best interests of Collie are being met at all times.
