YEAR 6
On Saturday the Year 6 Collie Eagles hosted Harvey Bulls Red and the weather was great for football. Kai Mounsey was the captain for the day.
The Eagles started out a bit flat in the first half and the kicking for goal was a bit off, they scored 1.8 to Harvey 1.1 in the first quarter and at the main break it was Collie 2.9 to Harvey 3.3.
Steve fired them up at half-time and they came out and had a really good quarter with 5.1 to Harvey one behind.
They kept the pressure on in the last and scored 3.2 to Harvey 1.1. Final score was Collie 10.12 to Harvey 4.5. Another great win for the Year 6 team.
Goal scorers were Tom Bell 3, Blair Scott 2, Reid Becker, Thomas Carter, Toby Hanns, Ethan Michalak and Jett Pike 1. Awards went to Ethan Michalak, Cai Kenyon and Bryce Wood.
We have a few weeks off football for the school holidays and our first game back has been changed from a Saturday game to a Friday night game against Carey Park on July 20 at Kelly Park at 6.30pm; the bus will leave at 4.30pm and we won’t train that day. Training will resume from July 11.
YEAR 7
The Collie Eagles Year 7 team took on the Harvey Bulls at home on Saturday, and recorded a great win against a good side in Harvey. Final scores were Collie 6.4 to Harvey one point.
Goal kickers for Collie were George Fuller with another bag of three goals; and Deegan Cummings, Odinn Kirk and Devin Gooch all had one goal.
Award winners for the day were Rusti Pitchers, Devin Gooch and Mitchell Simpson.
Note that training will only be only Thursday’s until school resumes. The next game will be on July 21.
YEAR 8
The Year 8 travelling side came up against a strong Dalyellup side on Saturday, the Eagles going down 4.6 to Dalyellup 10.21.
Dalyellup’s 21 points were a result of a great consistent effort by Collie’s powerful back line; the result could have been a lot more one sided had they not shown the passion that they have all year with some great individual efforts.
Goal kickers for the day were Flynn Williams with three goals and Luke Watts with one goal. Award winners for the day were Flynn Williams for his awesome effort at full forward, Sheymus Carter for his controlled aggression against a tough opponent, Kurtis Thomson for his best game of the year by far and taking four strong pack marks in the back line.
The game had produced fireworks and some tempers flared but coach Cooper was proud of the way the players from both teams all shook hands and cheered the umpires at the end of the game.
Training for the Year 8’s will be on Wednesday’s until school goes back, with our first game back against Cardinals at home on July 21 at 11.30am.
YEAR 9
The Year 9 team had a bye.
YEAR 10
The Year 10 Collie Eagles team took on South Bunbury down at Hay Park on Saturday, with South Bunbury Tigers winning 13.12 to Collie Eagles 3.3.
Goal kickers for Collie were Jayden Abraham, Dylan Bunton and Raymond Ugle.
Award winners for the day were Alex Davidson, Billy Bebbington and Coolio Mears.
Coach Harrison made special mention of the efforts of Deion Gibson and Dean Wynne.
The Year 10’s next game is against HBL Lions in Collie on Saturday, July 21 at 3pm.
