Collie YouthCARE will be hosting a dinner and concert this weekend to raise funds for school chaplains.
The dinner will start at 5.30pm on Saturday, March 17, at the Margaretta Wilson Centre and will include a concert from Perth band Spectrum.
YouthCARE support network team member Tamara Vening said the aim was to raise money to ensure chaplains stay in schools.
“We have two new chaplains and they’ll be dedicated [to local schools], the others will be rededicated to their schools for this year,” she said.
“The chaplains are there for providing non-religious support to the students, parents and teachers in any way that they need support.
“They also offer programs to teach children about mindfulness, emotions, protective behaviours and those sorts of things as well.
“It’s a great way to help the children get a better start in life and deal with things that happen at school or outside of school.”
Tickets for the night are available from Crank’n Cycles, local church ministers or at the door. The cost is $15 per person or $35 for a family.
