Collie has recorded its wettest winter in seven years with 486.8mm of rain falling across the three months. 

It is the most rain that has fallen across the winter month period since 2011, when 533.6mm of rain was recorded.

A Bureau of Meteorology spokesperson said the rainfall was down to a regular crossing of cold fronts over the three month period.

“Winter rainfall in South West WA is predominantly caused by cold fronts sweeping in from the south west of the state,” the spokesperson said.

July was recorded as the wettest month with 186.2mm of rain, August wasn’t far behind with 160.7mm and June had the least with 139.9mm.
