Local hair salon DeAnna’s Hair Design raised over $2,000 in less than four hours on Tuesday night for Jackson Pianta and the Children’s Leukaemia and Cancer Research Foundation.
The salon had any men’s haircut, shampoo and massage between 4 – 7:30pm for free and instead asked for a donation, which went towards supporting Jackson and the research foundation.
At only seven months old Jackson Pianta was diagnosed with childhood acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
The now two and a half year old recently underwent a bone marrow transplant at the Royal Perth Children Hospital.
DeAnna’s Hair Design owner Colleen DeAngelis said they raised $2,015 so far and their raffle was still ongoing if anyone wanted to donate.
“It was a great night. A great atmosphere. The girls really got a lot out of it and really enjoyed it and people in the Collie community were just so generous. It’s amazing,” she said.
Jackson’s uncle Shaun Pianta said it was really overwhelming with the amount of generous support from the Collie community.
“Seeing others putting their time and effort in to help out our cause and what we are trying to do to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation is great,” he said.
“Everyone from the community has been really helpful and the whole family is really appreciative of what everyone is doing with what has been happening.”
