It’s our favourite time of the week – a step back in time to reflect on the changes in our region, the faces and the fun that was being had during the month of January 1998.
It was reported that ex-Collie footballer Darren O’Brien was drafted to the Melbourne Football Club and moved to Melbourne full time on January 15, 1996.
A hostel was built in Collie which was reported to house hundreds of workers who were working at the power station.
There was a major lack of street signage in town with complaints from several members of the community.
The Collie Mineworkers Memorial Pool finally received shelter over the top of the toddler and wading pools after an eight year long battle to aim to get them put in place.
There was a lot going on in the region at the time.
What was your favourite memory of January 1996?
