This Saturday the Colliefields will be flooded with the colour pink for the annual Think Pink breakfast for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Two local women, Lisa Gillespie and Tamsin Emmett started the event two years ago as a way of raising awareness and funds.
The pair said previously the day had been a huge success with tickets selling out well before the event.
“Initially we started it because my sister in law and Tamsin’s good friend were both diagnosed with breast cancer,” Ms Gillespie said.
“They got so much out of Solaris Care and Dot’s Place in Bunbury that we decided to raise awareness so those services are available and try and raise some funds to give back to what supported them,” Ms Emmett said.
This year’s guest speaker is Dot’s Place volunteer Helen Moffat who has recently gone through breast cancer herself. T
here will also be a quiz, raffle, auction and loads of giveaways. All the money raised this year will go towards supporting the Cancer Council.
In 2017 they raised just over $4000 and in 2016 they raised $2697. This year they are hoping to exceed both those amounts.
