Hundreds of racegoers put on their best attire and flocked to the McVee Road Racecourse for the annual Freo Group Collie Cup held on Saturday, October 27.
The weather turned out well with the sun shining for the biggest event on the Collie Race Club calendar, with both locals and visitors attending the day.
With six races, the fashions on the field and a jumping castle and ice-cream van for the children it was a jam packed day of fun for everyone.
Prizes included a weekend away for two in Perth, photo shoots with local photographers Willow and Wilde and Click Photography, a $300 gym membership voucher from Plus Fitness Collie and many vouchers from local boutiques and businesses.
Fashions on the field
There were 87 entrants in the fashions on the field with six different categories.
The winner of the junior race-wear was Jayde Stocks. The winner of the teen race-wear was Charlie Cochrane. The winner of the women’s race-wear was Centaine Scolari. The winner of the ladies race-wear was Tahnee Crellin. The winner of the mature ladies race-wear was Libby Wilcox. The winner of the open men’s race-wear was Jade Piggott.
The overall fashions on the field winner was Tahnee Crellin who dressed in red.
Ms Crellin now has the opportunity to be a wildcard entrant for fashions on the field in Perth through a public vote on Facebook competing against other regional winners.

Toned wins Freo Group Collie Cup
Toned has taken out the win in this year’s Freo Group Collie Cup once again after beating Narvarda by a head.
At ten years of age, Toned ($3.20) has won roughly $400,000 throughout his career but still had the stride in his step to be able to charge down Narvarda.
Last year he bet the pre-race favourite Prentice by a half-head running over the 2000 metre distance.
Trainer Mark Bairstow was thrilled to see his horse first over the line yet again.
“He won the race last year and he done the same again this year so it was just great to see,” Mr Bairstow said.
“It was a close finish but he was showing enough to see it out, so it was a good result.”
Mr Bairstow said the pair might be back again next year at another shot at the cup.
This year jockey Lucas Camilleri helped to get Toned over the line.
“It was a really tight race but he got there in the end the old boy. He’s a pleasure to ride,” he said.
“A couple of years ago I came to ride in the Collie Cup as I like to come to support the town and country racing.”
The other main supporting race Applecross Electrical and Testing Service Collie Sprint was won in a very tight finish by Dongjie Wu ($6.80), trained by Dennis Couper and ridden by Peta Edwards.
