A 37-year-old Collie man was hit with a $1000 fine after being caught driving with a suspended licence.
Jonathon Priest appeared in the Collie Magistrates Court on November 7 to plead guilty to one count of no authority to drive.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Morrissey told the court Priest was pulled over by police on the Coalfields Highway in Bowelling on September 7.
She said police found Priest’s licence had been suspended by the court for 13 months after a previous conviction for a driving offence in March.
While Magistrate Evan Shackleton commended Priest for getting his life together after his earlier criminal convictions, he also stressed the importance of obeying licence suspensions imposed by the court.
Mr Shackleton imposed an extra nine month disqualification on Priest to be served once his current suspension ends in April, and said it was likely he would face harsher penalties if he was found driving again before the disqualification expired.
