Collie Police have charged a 26-year-old woman after locating a stolen puppy and reuniting it with its owner.
Acting Senior Sergeant Terry Townsend said police had received a report that an American bulldog puppy had been stolen from a property in Buckle Street, Allanson on November 13.
He said CCTV footage of the theft had been shared on social media and as a result of information given to police, they were able to locate the puppy.
Sergeant Townsend said police had charged a 26-year-old Collie woman with hindering police and possessing stolen property in relation to the offence.
Police also charged a 29-year-old Collie woman with burglary and stealing offences after she allegedly stole items from a neighbour’s shed and attempted to sell them online.
Sergeant Townsend said the property had been vacant after the occupant passed away recently, and that the theft had occurred some time between November 11 and 17.
He said the occupant’s partner had reported to police that some of the items were being advertised on an online buy-swap-sell website. As a result, police executed a search warrant at the neighbour’s property on November 19 and recovered some items that had allegedly been stolen.
Sergeant Townsend said further inquiries into the matter were ongoing and police were attempting to recover the remaining items.
Police are also calling for any possible witnesses to a traffic incident on November 19 to come forward.
Sergeant Townsend said two male drivers allegedly got into an altercation outside an address on Mungalup Road. After the men exited their vehicles to exchange words, one of the men allegedly grabbed a shovel and hit the other’s car.
Both men then left the scene, but they allegedly collided near the intersection between Mungalup Road and Throssell Street, with one car spinning out and ending up in the parking lot at Caltex.
Sergeant Townsend said police had spoken to a number of independent witnesses and one of the drivers about the incident, but he was hopeful that the anyone who witnessed or had dash cam footage of the incident would contact police on 9734 6333 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Sergeant Townsend said police were also looking into the theft of a mobile phone from Woolworths on November 17.
He said an employee at the store had left their phone unattended at the service desk counter where it was allegedly taken by a man, with the incident caught on CCTV.
Sergeant Townsend said police had identified the man and were still deciding what charges would be laid.
