Year 7 cricket
COLLIE V COLTS
Collie Year 7s played Colts at Hay Park last week.
Captain Tyson Washer lost the toss and was sent in to bowl.
Opener Oliver McLean started the team off strong with a maiden over.
The team all bowled tight with the most runs taken in an over being only five.
Lucas Worlley also managed a maiden over in the seventh over.
McLean’s second over saw the first wicket of the day fall, followed not long after by Cruz McCagh with a direct hit.
Just before drinks break Worlley managed to take another wicket for the team taking Colts to 3/41 at end of first innings.
To the center went Washer and Toby Hanns to start off the run chase for Collie.
The boys got off to a slow start but soon managed to get their eye in and start making runs.
The sixth over saw Hanns’ time at the crease come to an end when he was bowled. In came McLean.
Washer soon departed on a well-deserved 12 on his last ball before retiring.
Worlley joined McLean and started strong with a quick couple of fours before McLean was ran out on five.
Montana Dallywater then helped Worlley lift Collie’s run rate as the pair continued to bat well and find boundaries.
At the end of innings Collie were 3/58.
Third over into the new innings saw Collie gain its fourth wicket with a great catch from Clarrie Boyle off McLean’s bowling.
Two overs later Worlley sent down an exceptional ball to send the bails flying.
Colts picked up its run rate with its young gun Tex until Blair Scott took a great catch from the bowling of Isabella Dallywater to dismiss him for a well-deserved 32.
The last two wickets fell consecutively to leave Montana Dallywater on a hat-trick for his next game after the Christmas break.
Colts were all out 110.
With 53 runs needed to win the game, out went Montana Dallywater and Worlley.
The 19th over saw Worlley bowled for 22 off 29 balls picking up four boundaries.
McCagh joined Dallywater and was determined to get off the mark this week and make his first runs for the season.
McCagh faced 28 balls and held up the end allowing Dallywater to score much needed runs until he was bowled (three) and Collie were 5/100.
Boyle and Dallywater saw Collie draw the match just before Dallywater was caught for 29 off 33 balls picking up five boundaries.
Scott took to the center and hit the winning run for Collie.
The team continued to hit out the overs until they were all dismissed for 118. Boyle (2), Dallywater (0) and Scott (6 not out) closed out the inning.
Year 9 cricket
COLLIE V GRAMMAR
Collie played Grammar at Wallsend, winning the toss and batting.
Robbie Chitty and Jack Williams opened with Williams first out for one.
Liam Wilson was next out for five then Zak Reuben for a duck.
Chitty batted well again and was next out for 30.
Josh Elliott and Judd Rinder provided a very good partnership of 51 with great running between wickets.
Elliott was next out for 29 then Blayden Coverley came in and made nine.
Max Ireland made 10, then Rinder was out for a very good 35.
Adam Worlley made 11 and Jackson Broadbent provided some good lower order hitting to make 22.
Heidi Ireland went to the crease in the final over and had everyone cheering when she got her first run and finished one not out.
Collie finished all out for 184.
The first four bowlers bowled really well, but without luck.
Jackson Broadbent four overs 0/14, Zak Reuben four overs 0/7, Adam Worlley four overs 0/9 and Max Ireland four overs 0/12.
The first wicket come from a run out thrown in by Adam Worlley at 1/5.
Jack Williams (two overs 1/17) once again come on and picked up the best batsman stumped by Josh Elliott to give the team a much needed breakthrough at 2/44.
Judd Rinder picked up the next bowled, then Josh Elliott found himself on a hat-trick with one bowled and one caught by Max Ireland.
Rinder then picked up another two bowled to have two overs 3/0.
Then Elliott was once again on a hat-trick, this time one caught by Reuben and one caught by Rinder.
Elliott missed the hat-trick and finished with four overs 4/12. Grammer had lost 7/4 and were 9/58.
Heidi Ireland bowled three overs 0/11, Liam Wilson one over 0/6, then Blayden Coverley bowled 1.4 overs 1/9 finishing the innings with a wicket bowled.
Grammer all out for 96.
Collie won by 88 runs.
