GREG Bell was just four shots over par when winning the Spry’s Meats 18-hole stableford at Collie Golf Club last Saturday.
His 76 off-the-stick yielded 41 points which was two shots better than his nearest rival, Kevin Ireland, on 39.
Bell, Ireland and third placed Phillip Warburton, who had 38, all benefited from the sponsors’ largess, winning trophies.
Just outside the top trio, on 37, were Mark Colgan, Greg Moyle and the consistent Trevor McCormick.
Regan Old, Troy Briggs and Mun Lye finished on 36, while grouped together on 35 were Mark McCormick, Ron Annandale, Hugh Annandale and Chris Mead.
Jann Mead won the ladies’ trophy, with 37 points, one better than Bev Moyses on 36.
Barbecue packs supplied by the sponsors for the novelties were much sought after and won by Jann Mead and Chris Bliss (No. 4), Ron Annandale (6), Mun Lye (7), Brett Smith (9), Allan Banks (13), Joe Italiano (14), Mark Colgan (15), Phil Warburton (17) and Colin Giblett (18).
A good field of 65 took part in the event.
Leisure Day
TREVOR McCormick had four shots to spare when winning last week’s Tuesday leisure day 18-hole stableford.
“Macca” finished on 41 points to be well ahead of Jay Robinson who cruised around the course when posting 37.
Others to win vouchers were Fred Bronickis 35, Doug Crowe, Roger Hunter and the day’s best vet, Steven Ireland, 32.
Kevin Ireland had the nearest second shot on No. 4, while longest putts were sunk by Ed Riley (9) and Wayne Waywood (18).
Steven Ireland’s tee shot was nearest the pin on No. 14.
Scroungers
LAST Thursday’s nine-hole scroungers event was won by Neil Motion, with 21 points.
Motion was two ahead of three players on 19 – Steve Farquhar, Steve Gianola and Clive Pullan.
One shot further back, on 18, were Ray McGill, David Broadbent, Brett Smith, George Newlands and Mickey Finlay.
Ken Woods (No. 4), Rodney Simmonds (6) and Allan Banks (9) won the novelties.
