Last Sunday afternoon’s Wagin programme provided great results for Collie Harness Racing connections.
Of the eight races Collie-trained or -driven horses won three races and finished third in three others.
The Errol Ashcroft-trained, Kyle Harper-driven Euphoric Moment got the day off well as a $1.40 favourite when he led the field from his inside barrier to win narrowly but well.
In the next race Trent Wheeler drove his dad Brian’s nomination Dollars and Cents to his second lifetime win, coming from three back on the pegs to collar the leader in the shadows of the post. He was great value at $11.10 the win and $2.30 the place as he has been consistent of late.
Trent then drove Graham Waters’ Avivo to a tough win after being three wide early and then facing the breeze to score at odds of $3.50 and $1.40.
Morgan Woodley got the Peter Hemsley-trained Hillbilly Time off smartly from his 60m handicap to be on the pegs early before running on for third. He paid $1.90 the place in his first up run.
Kath Melbourne also had a first up runner in Art Lover who lobbed one out and one back for Mitchell Miller and again running on stoutly for third as a $9.60 place chance.
Wheeler rounded out a good day for Collie by coming from four back on the pegs behind the Jeremy Thornton trained Taharas Desire at $2.20 the place.
Lots of action to come over Christmas with an Albany programme on Friday night and the first of Busselton’s six meets on Boxing night.
