The Ashcroft family had a good night at last Friday evening’s harness programme.
Call Me Ernie was desperately unlucky in finishing a close second to the short priced favourite Daniel John in the first event, returning a very nice place dividend of $5.40 for Bianca.
Errol’s smart three-year-old Henwood Bay followed up a victory on Boxing night as a $7 shot, with another all the way victory as a short-priced $1.90 favourite on Friday.
Ashleigh Markham piloted both horses.
Gammy Cougar faced the breeze for Cody Wallrodt and Errol before finishing third, returning $2.70 for the place.
Trent Wheeler had seven drives for seven different trainers and came home with a win and a second.
John Graham’s Alfs Odyssey sat one out one back before running on for second at $2.60 the place.
Emjay Twenty Three led early, surrendered the lead in the middle stages before finishing too well for the opposition, scoring as a well supported $4.90 and $1.80 chance.
This followed a good second at the same track on New Year’s night where Wheeler also had a third with the Linda Hamilton-trained All American Beauty.
At Albany on Saturday evening, Karen and Cody Wallrodt combined to run third with Beware of Darkness as a $6.40 place chance.
Another programme in Busselton will be run tomorrow night with an Albany meeting on Saturday night. Several Collie pacers will be running at both meetings, so plenty of chances for a win.
