Business Help: West Arthur has a new business adviser for Business Local, Navah Kerr. She will be available to come to Darkan to talk to anyone on anything to do with running a small business. This is a free service brought to you by the Small Business Development Corporation. Navah is a small business owner herself with a shop in York and is fully aware of the challenges facing small business. She’d love to catch up with anyone who has a question or concern. Money Smart Week 2019: Money Smart Week is an annual event to help people better manage their finances. This year the West Arthur CRC are having a kids activity to celebrate the week—more details closer to hand but save the date of March 26.
Farm Safety Workshop: If you are a WIFE (Women in Farming Enterprise) member you can attend a free Farm Safety Workshop in Darkan on March 20 from 8.45am-2.30pm. This workshop will be run by Safe Farms WA. If you want to know more about the group, email westarthur@wife.org.au.
Club Planning & Goal Setting: The Department of Local Government Sport and Cultural Industries is hosting a range of webinars covering Every Club Workshop topics. The second will be broadcast for a group session at the West Arthur CRC on March 13 at 6pm and it’s on planning and goal setting for clubs and covers things like setting priorities; having knowledge of planning models and processes (templates); and knowing what success looks like so you can evaluate your plan. If you’d like to attend you must RSVP by March 6 to the CRC.
Oppy Shop News: The Oppy Shop took $300 in January which was sent to Heart Research WA. Takings in February will be for Leukaemia Foundation WA. A big thanks to all who donate, help and buy.
Change to Early Close: Darkan Primary School have changed their early close day to Wednesdays in 2019. More staff members are on site on a Wednesday so it means more collaboration at the meetings and greater input into school decision making.
