Mother's Day Walk: This year Darkan will be participating in the 2019 Mother's Day Classic Walk to raise funds for breast cancer research. It will be on May 4 starting at 9am from outside Rarebits Café on Burrowes Street. The walk will also end there with morning tea available for purchase from the café with those proceeds also going to the cause. Registration is $5 per person and these funds all go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. All welcome, whether it be walking, running, riding, gophering or just cheering and enjoying the morning tea.
Purple People Show: Come along to the Darkan Town Hall on May 4 for a jaw-dropping stunt show as part of the Country Arts WA program. Doors open at 5.30pm with food for sale before the show starting at 6pm. Cost is $5 for adults and $2 for school aged children and kids under 5 free. Presented locally by the Shire of West Arthur and the West Arthur Community Resource Centre. Door sales only.
Kids Holiday Activity: It's time for some holiday fun time cooking and craft at the West Arthur CRC on April 17, followed by an Easter egg hunt. Cost: $5 non-members; $4 members. The session is from 2-3.30pm. Children under 4 need to be accompanied by a parent. RSVP by April 12 to the CRC on 9736 2000.
Continence Café: Local physiotherapist Pam Stockley will be running a continence info session on April 17 from 9am at the West Arthur CRC. Grab a friend and come along and find out why your bladder and bowel health is so important. Free event with morning tea supplied.
St John Ambulance First Aid Course: The West Arthur CRC will be hosting the St John Ambulance HLTAID003 Provide First Aid 1 Day course on April 30 from 8.30am to 4.30pm. The cost is $160 per person. There are limited spaces so book now on 9736 2000 or email Karen.prowse@westarthurcrc.com.au. If you can't make it on a weekday you may be interested in our next proposed day on June 22. Register your interest in that course now too.
