Peter Coombs triumphed in last Saturday's 18-hole stableford, sponsored by the Malatesta brothers. Coombs scored 36 points to take first place, edging out Jan Van Vollenstee, in the runner-up position, and Jeff Crowe, in third position on a countback. Paul Goodwin, with 35 points was fourth overall, followed by Brian Banks and Eric Annandale, each on 34 points. Joe Italiano rounded out the vouchers with his score of 33 points. Scroungers: The head scrounger was the winner in a low scoring affair in last Thursday's nine-hole scroungers competition. Returning the day's best score of 18 stableford points, Ed Riley won the event from a septet of players, all on 16 points. On a spin, Kevin Ireland was runner-up, from George Dorozenko, Ray Alp, Doug Crowe, Gary Old, Brian Banks and Ian Shannon. Novelties: Jay Robinson (4), Troy Sheppard (6 and 9) and Brian Banks (18).
Wednesday Ladies: Annette Atherton won last Wednesday's ladies par competition, sponsored by CRVMC. She won on a countback from Blanche Faries, with both ladies returning a score of 2 down. Dion Smallwood was next, on 3 down, followed by Shelley Barker-May and Angela Ireland, each 4 down. Completing the vouchers, each with 5 down, were Debbie Van Vollenstee and Rhonda McGill. Novelties: Debbie Van Vollenstee (7), Sue Earnshaw (9), Angela Ireland (14) and Shelley Barker-May (18).
Leisure Day: Brad Swan was in fine form in last Tuesday's 18-hole leisure day stableford competition. His round of 41 stableford points was four shots ahead of runner-up Joe Italiano, on 37 points. Trevor McCormick had 36, as did Peter Coombs, who took out the best vet award. Jeff Crowe was next with 34 points, followed by Ken Tate, Doug Crowe, Bruce Roberts, Ray Cooper and Colin Giblett, who each finished with 33 points. This weekend sees the conclusion of the club championship, with round 3 Saturday and round 4 on Sunday.
