A Collie teenager is taking the WA hockey world by storm after being named South West Strikers Fairest and Best ahead of players twice her age.
Belle Ramshaw, 16, was awarded the title at the club's wind up late last month.
Belle, who also plays for Collie Rovers, said she was overwhelmed with emotion after being named the best player for the side.
"This season has been great and being awarded means so much. I don't think anyone really understands how honoured I feel," she said.
"And to get so much support from Collie, my friends, my family, I'm really grateful to be in a position to do this with so much support."
While the team wasn't able to make it to the finals for the 2019 season, Belle said she continued to learn from, and admire, both her team mates and opposition players for the skills she's been able to develop throughout the season.
"It's honestly so special to be able to play on the team and in the league. I learn and grow each game," she said.
"It's a different step up from the local league. To play for Collie A-grade is obviously my home here and I love every minute of it, but playing for the South West Strikers has given me the opportunity to play against women who have played across the world and have so much experience is really a learning experience, even when they're running rings around you."
In her third year with the South West Strikers, and juggling school and her local sporting competitions, Belle said it was a little hard work and support from loved ones who helped her reap the rewards.
