Artists living in the South West are invited to take part in a virtual art spectacular running throughout May and June.
From Wedensday, May 6 amateurs and pros can take part in live online workshops to develop their skills in a range of classes covering everything from painting, photography, clay and more.
On Sunday May 10 an online art exhibition and competition opens to artists living in the South West.
The competition has three categories including 2D artwork, photography and 3D artwork, along with three different age groups for primary school, high school and open.
South West Virtual Arts Spectacular coordinator Lisa O'Neil said the event was organised after art exhibitions in the region were cancelled and galleries were closed.
"All these poor artists sell at the markets on the weekends, they have so much beautiful work and amazing stuff for competitions.
"All of a sudden there was nothing they could do with their work, artists were sitting at home with all this amazing work they had created to enter competitions and could not show or do anything with.
"I suggested to the Shire of Capel that I could put together an events concept for an online arts spectacular where people could submit their work for free and we could get them to have some prize money.
"Obviously a lot of kids were at home a month ago so we could target them and get their mums and dads to give them art projects."
The Shire of Capel donated $3,500 in prize money to the competition and Regional Arts WA helped with a quick response grant of $3,000 if the group would hold workshops as well.
Ms O'Neil said they have released the first seven workshops on Eventbrite, which will be held via Zoom.
Artists will also have the opportunity to sell their work during the competition phase of the arts spectacular by posting a photograph of their artwork onto the Facebook page.
"I am welcoming artists to put their website in as well if they want to show off anymore of their work they can do.
"Hopefully we get a flood of colour because the theme is colour my world 2020.
"Artists can enter five times in each of the categories for free and hopefully we find all these emerging artists popping up."
