As the coronavirus takes a sledgehammer to the entertainment industry, Australian company Beyond Cinema is floating the idea of an open-air boating cinema later this year.
Beyond Cinema has put a call out to register Australian interest in the unique cinema experience, hoping to visit six cities countrywide from October through to early November.
The cinema is expected to drop anchor in Sydney for one week from October 14. Other cities on the list include Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide and Perth, before wrapping up in Melbourne.
The proposed fleet of 12-15 mini boats will hold up to eight people each. You will need to purchase tickets for the entire boat to ensure you are seated with friends and family only.
Free popcorn as well as snacks and drinks will be available before you hop aboard. While an announcement on the movie line-up has not yet been made, a mix between golden oldies and new releases is expected.
The cinema launched last week in a spectacular fashion on the Seine River in Paris to mark the opening night of Paris Plages.
Beyond Cinema is renowned in Sydney for offering an immersive cinematic journey that aims to blur the boundaries between film and the real world. The floating cinema is a step in a new direction for the company, which is made up of a passionate team of producers, actors, set makers and cinema enthusiasts.
